A Day in the Life of Our Students
Recording Connection student Dennis Ekhuya
Recording Connection for Audio Engineering & Music Production student
Dennis Ekhuya is already a professional in live sound but that isn’t stopping him from investing in his future success by learning more with mentor Joey Heier at Crystal Clear Recording Studios:
“I have been doing live sound for about 14 years now, eight of them in lead roles, but I have always known I need to go further. I need more [of a] challenge and someone to push me beyond my comfort zone, into an arena I have never dared to venture into—recording and production.
I know some will say there is no such word as ‘re-beginnings’—the process of having a new beginning without necessarily having to restart—where you start from the fundamentals and build on them without necessarily erasing what you already know…
I need to sharpen my technical, people, and software skills. That’s why I came to the Recording Connection…I’m excited I took this step… This is my re-beginning!”
Film Connection grad Caitlin Cooke & fellow grad Jacob Sizemore on the set of “Paralysis”
Congrats to recent Film Connection for Film Production & Editing graduate
Caitlin Cooke who just wrapped production on her supernatural drama “Paralysis.” Speaking of the experience, Caitlin says:
It is one of the first horror/supernatural projects the studio has worked on, so it has been a challenge to think and work out ‘How exactly are we going to do this?’ Especially when it came to the lighting and costuming of the creature…yet, so far, everything looks ‘spooky’ and that ‘eerie’ type of scary rather than ‘gory slasher flick’ type of scary, which is what I prefer.
When I first thought of presenting this project, I originally thought no one would want to work on it because of how crazy and the weird the ideas are. But, luckily, I have an amazing team [made up largely of Film Connection grads and students] that is willing and supportive of this wild ride.”
