Finding people to collaborate with, create with, and expand your creative endeavors with is hard but definitely not impossible. The trick is getting out there and putting yourself out there! Finding people who are on the same plane (or a similar one) and who want to team up requires talking, being your charming self and meeting just as many creative heads as possible. Some artforms you can do by yourself. Some you can’t. If you’re a filmmaker, you need collaborators. If you’re a musician, you probably want other musicians to play with or to record. No time is better than the present so know what you want but stay open to opportunity. Offer to make that EPK or record that fresh-faced vocalist. Build that portfolio and those connections.
Going to meet ups, networking events, and film screenings is how you find likeminded individuals who, like you, are committed enough to get out there and pound the pavement. Focus on building relationships based on respect and integrity. Do good work. Repeat.
