ASCAP I Create Music Expo
The ASCAP “I Create Music” Expo is the premier music conference for musicians, songwriters, and audiophiles of all types. One part music festival, one part technical convention, the yearly event helps would-be musicians and audio engineers break into the business by helping them gain access to the industry’s top talent and showcase their abilities. This year’s ASCAP Expo will take place in Los Angeles from April 28th to April 30th 2016.
The goal of the ASCAP Expo is not only to disseminate valuable information and creative ideas, but also to help young aspiring individuals network with creative pros and help them forge the lasting connections that will enable them to craft careers for themselves. Through fostering transparency, education and understanding, ASCAP is aimed at helping young performers get off on the right foot and get started producing music now. Sponsored by City National Bank, Kaotica, Sam Ash Music, LANDR, and Prism Sound, The ASCAP Expo has been called “one part Comic Con, one part job fair, one part Inside the Actor’s Studio.” It’s intentioned as a means to give young artists a glimpse of what happens inside the recording studio and get a grasp on what it will take for them to get their foot in the door of the world’s most alluring industry, things our students already understand.
The all-star lineup of artists and musicians features Timbaland, who will be delivering a keynote interview, as well as Melissa Etheridge, and co-writer of Rihanna’s latest album, Anti, James Fauntleroy. Guests will be speaking on panels, answering questions and giving one-on-one interviews, shedding light on their creative process as well as discussing the state of the industry and changes that will affect up and coming music professionals. Promoting young artists comes into full focus at this year’s event. A few select up-and-coming musicians will also be selected to perform their original music live for the EXPO audience as part of the eclectic musical lineup.
